Become FlashRadio!

What next?

We’re currently discussing where Flash Radio should go next and what it should be. Most of us are active in groups and projects and can’t keep the radio going regularly every week for example, so initially the idea was only to dig it out for special events and seasons of political action.

News vs. features

Throughout producing the podcasts we were always discussing what our balance of news vs. features should be. As alternative media our job can obviously be to report on what happened when we were where the action was, since the mainstream and corporate media does not report or reports with a certain agenda.  So, reporting and what happened on certain events, protests and actions is important. On the other hand there are other outlets for that, i.e. Indymedia. We’d  also like to achieve somewhat of a shelf-life for our podcast and for news that shelf-life is very short. For features, i.e. self-contained reports on a certain issue with background information has a longer shelf-life, so it’s important to us to get the balance right.

We need a lot more journalists for events and actions.  If you do your own recordings, interviews and reports already or you’d like to, get in touch. We’re mainly UK based and haven’t decided on a pattern for our production yet but it would be nice to hear who is out there and up for doing stuff. It could be a one-off, or a regular thing, or a contribution to a feature podcast (see  ‘Home’page for planned podcasts). If you want to get in touch send an email to flashPod[at]
